A week in Rishikesh, from a flat instead of a hotel room

Rishikesh rewards early mornings and slow evenings. A flat with its own kitchen fits that rhythm better than a room built for one night.

Most people come to Rishikesh for the river, the hills or a yoga course, and many stay longer than they planned. A week is about right for a first visit. It is also long enough for a hotel room to start feeling small.

Mornings start early

The best light on the Ganga comes before breakfast, and trails into the foothills are cooler the earlier you set out. With your own kitchen you can make tea at five without waiting for a café to open, and pack food for the day.

Space for a group

Friends travelling together usually end up split across hotel rooms. A larger flat keeps everyone under one roof, with a living room to plan the next day in.

Plan around the season

River rafting stops during the monsoon and starts again once the water settles. If rafting is the reason for the trip, check the dates before you book anything else.

Evenings in

After a long day outside, cooking a simple dinner and eating it when you like is its own kind of rest. Ask us on WhatsApp what is near the flat, from the closest market to the quickest way down to the river.
